Indicate a location, say the D: drive for example, and Disk Aware will analyze it and present a color coded graph on its interface. This graph shows the files and folders that take up the most space on your hard disk as well as the types of files that take up the most space on your disk. With this bit of information in your hands, you can take advantage of another piece of functionality Disk Aware has to offer: file management. You can delete, compress, copy, and move files/folders.

The Disk Aware installation file is a very lightweight 2MB in size. Download this file, run it, and you will be presented with a straightforward setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process. You can install the application on a PC powered by Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP, Server 2003, or Server 2008.

Say you set Disk Aware loose on your D: drive. The graph that resulted from analyzing this drive is displayed in the pane to the right of the application’s interface. The contents of said drive, the folders on it, will be displayed in the right. At the top there’s a dropdown menu to switch to another location and buttons for switching between Size and Type view.

Using Disk Aware is a fairly straightforward 3-step process that goes along something like this:
Step 1 – select the location you want the application to analyze. You can choose any disk, drive, or folder you want.
Step 2 – view the graph, find out which files and folders take up the most space on your computer. You can interact with the graph itself and with the items in the list to the right.
Step 3 – take advantage of the application’s file management functionality. Drag a file into the box down in the bottom left hand side and you will be able to delete it, compress it, copy it, move it, or open it in Windows Explorer.

You have 5 days at your disposal to use Disk Aware for free and evaluate the functionality it has to offer.

There’s much to like about Disk Aware: it’s easy to use, it has a good looking interface, and it helps you visualize disk space usage and manage files.

Pros

Disk Aware provides support for numerous Windows editions. Navigating the interface is a very simple matter. Use Disk Aware to visualize disk space usage and to manage files.

Cons

Free to use for a 5-day period; nag screen.
